An enjoyable couple of hours were spent at Whiteman Park Tractor Museum this morning, where the original ‘Tail End Charlie’ is permanently housed. We were met by Tracmach members who brought out a couple of their tractors, plus ‘Tail End Charlie’.
Photos were taken and the tractors were driven around the circuit a couple of times to the delight of everyone, especially Ron who took Kerry for a spin, which would have brought back wonderful memories for both of them.
The ladies provided a delicious morning tea where we were able to have a chat and take more photos. Thank you so much to all involved in the enjoyable morning.
We spent 1½ hours outside the main doors of Bunnings in Midland, where our tractor had pride of place for all to see. Our merchandise table did well, and next to it was a Prostate Cancer Awareness table, a Breast Cancer Awareness table and Steel Blue Boots, another of our sponsors, along with Engineers Australia. Bunnings had very kindly donated a wide range of goods for us to sell/give away, which was very much appreciated. It was also special to see family and friends who came along to give their support.
On to Parkerville Primary School where Ron gave a talk to several classes of school children who were very interested in what he had to say, and they asked some great questions. A large map of Australia with our route marked was on show and will stay at the school to give the children the opportunity to follow our progress. Lucy and Abby Critchell and Sally and Carly Hovitch were especially excited and proud as Ron and Kerry are their grandparents.
Whilst driving around this area to and from our various destinations, we were thrilled to see all the wildflowers and can imagine they will be magnificent as we continue along in the coming days.
