Our Travels - Day 23  Darwin to Mataranka:  September 10th

We were treated to a delicious cooked breakfast courtesy of Bassy, Anne, Cumber, Julie and crew - thanks everyone for meeitng us at Darwin, for the fun and your support at the markets.  Looking forward to catching up with you all soon.  We had the opportunity to thank the Dongara folk for their fantastic effort in organising the dinner and auction at Dongara which was no successful.  It was also time to say farewell to Jeff and Wendy Fordham and to thank them for the time they have spent with us from Dongara.  Happy travelling homewards.

Kim not a happy chappy this morning.  It was very cold and damp in his swag from the heavy dew this morning.  He woke up at 3.45am and could not return to his  damp bed, so paced unhappily until we all awoke.

After shopping in Katherine, we all made a memorable visit to the Adelaide River War Cemetary which is beautifully maintained and a very peaceful restful place.

Upon arrival in Mataranka at 4.30 pm, Kim was presented with a small moisture proof tent by the boys and the loan of a new camp stretcher by George and Darryl.  So once again, all the troops are happy!  Kim was quite taken aback by their kindness and was thrilled with his new home.

Our early arrival allowed enough time to enjoy the beautiful afternoon weather and the refreshing hot springs.  We prepared a community meal which was fun and just what we needed as a social activity.
