Our Travels - Day 25  Banka Banka to Camooweal:  September 12th, 2007

The Banka Banka Caravan Park is one of Sir Sidney Kidman's cattle properties.  In the evening a slide show was held outlining the activities of the station which was very  interesting.

At 8.30am this morning we arrived at the Three Ways Roadhouse which is on the junction of the Barkly Highway into Queensland and the Stuart Highway.

Everything is running along smoothly and we are right on track with our itinerary.  Once again, we sincerely thank all the wonderful people who have asked about the re-enactment, made donations and wished us well.  Also to those who have checked our progress on this website.

At Avon Downs, the local police had set up a cool, relaxing stop where you could help yourself to a free cup of tea or coffee.

How different travel is today to 1957 - in those days there were no two-way radios to keep in touch.  Tail End Charlie simply had to wait at the end of the line of rally cars to make sure they were all OK before they could proceed.  There were not so many roadhouses, and the roads were either gravel or bulldust.  There were no mobile or satellite phones to keep in touch with those at home, or  laptops etc.  They would have been absolutely amazed if they had known how technology would change in the intervening 50 years.
