Our Travels - Day 30 Emerald to Monto:  September 17th, 2007

Cheeky, beautifully coloured lorikeets greeted us this morning when they visited our campsites.  There were many bird calls to wake us up, which was lovely.

There are massive reserves of coal in Queensland and Blackwater is one town mining this resource - maybe this is how the town got its name?

At Blackwater there is a beautiful Japanese style garden which was built by the Duaringa Shire Council and the Fujisawa Town Council in Japan, these towns being sister towns to each other.

We passed through the town of Dingo where they hold a dingo trap throwing competition each year - that would be fun to watch!!

The rest of the day was spent driving along the beautiful Capricorn Highway with rolling ranges and lower farmlands with many varieties of crops being grown.  This area is irrigated so everywhere is looking very healthy.
