Our Travels - Day 5  Cowell  - Smokey Bay : August 3rd, 2007

A wonderful evening was spent at the Cowell Sporting Club where a delicious meal was provided by community members.

Alan Zerna, Chairman, Franklin Harbour Agricultural Bureau welcomed us warmly and intorudced Ron, who gave a talk about our re-enactment.

We caught up with old friends from Cowell and had a lot of interest in merchandise and especially 'Tail End Charlie'.

Very sincere thanks to:

    Franklin Harbour Agricultural Bureau
    Franklin Harbour History Museum
Cowell Sporting Club, and community members for supplying the meal and for the use of amenities and camping
...area, and also generously donating proceeds of the meal back to our cause.

At Elbow Hill a couple of interested gents who attended the evening stopped us and had a chat.  Dennis Wake, Maurice Beinki and 'Fred' the dog.

Elbow Hill is a very small town on the main road with a house which used to be the telephone exchange which also used to grow and sell vegetables to locals and visitors - there is also a lovely old disused church which has been renovated for sale.
