  1. The first sound on July 7th was the heavy rain on the roof – not a good start to our big adventure. First stop was at Wundowie, the location of an iron works which made parts for the original Chamberlain tractors. Despite the wet conditions, there was a good turnout at Wundowie where the Men’s Shed put on a BBQ Breakfast before the group headed off to Northam for the official start. With a Police escort and Llewyn the piper leading Tail End Charlie into town, this was quite a spectacle. The Northam Shire provided a marquee which was handy in the conditions, but the rain cleared long enough for lunch and the speeches and send-off. A quick stop at Goomalling where a welcome cuppa was supplied, then off to Wongan Hills where the townsfolk gathered to welcome us and to introduce Anne and Stephanie who are involved with ‘Comfort Quilts’, a wonderful incentive to brighten the day of cancer sufferers. Our overnight stop courtesy of Wongan Hills Caravan Park, which was much appreciated.
